The Next Novena: The Christmas Novena 2013!

We are excited to announce that the next novena we will pray is the Christmas Novena!

This was the very first novena we ever prayed through Pray More Novenas — and that was three years ago. At the time, we didn’t have very many people subscribed to pray with us… And now, there are more than 76,000 people praying with us!

We have prayed for the same general intention each year that we pray this novena, and that’s for an end to abortion.

There is no better time than to reflect on the most vulnerable of this world than during Advent and Christmas when we prepare for the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, who comes to us as a small baby.

As Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI said a few Christmases ago:

“The Son himself is the Word, the Logos; the eternal Word became small — small enough to fit into a manger. He came a child, so that the Word could be grasped by us. In this way God teaches us to love the little ones. In this way he teaches us to love the weak. In this way he teaches us to respect children.

“The child of Bethlehem directs our gaze towards all children who suffer and are abused in the world, the born and unborn. Towards children who are placed as soldiers in a violent world; towards children who have to beg; towards children who suffer deprivation and hunger; towards children who are unloved. In all of these it is the Child of Bethlehem who is crying out to us; it is God who has become small who appeals to us.

“Let us pray that the brightness of God’s love may enfold all these children. Let us ask God to help us do our part so that the dignity of children may be respected. May they all experience the light of love, which mankind needs so much more than the material necessities of life.”

We will pray for an end to abortion, for greater respect for the dignity of human life, and for the Gospel of Life — the heart of Jesus’ message — to become greater and more alive in all of our hearts.

We hope you will join us in praying this Christmas Novena, and that you will share it with all of your friends & family!

If you haven’t signed up to pray with us yet — you can do it HERE.

Sign up soon because the Christmas Novena begins on December 16th!

  2. I recently found out that St. Anthony is the patron Saint for amputees. Our son was in a farm accident and lost his leg from just above the knee down. Please have a novena for the amputees. Thank you and God bless you both. Gloria

  3. Thank you both for the wonderful Novenas we can pray together. We need a novena to pray for those who carry evil in their hearts, that they be enlightened to accept Jesus in their hearts and change their ways. Hackers cause so much conflict-they need to stop. Prayers might be a resource to assist them in turning away from this evil. Abusive people – they need prayers as well as mentally sick people. So maybe in 2014 we can have novenas for those who fall in these categories.

Thank you for all you do pray for and letting us join in with you. Happy New Year!

    God Bless You both.

  4. Thanks John Paul and Annie for all the prayers and Novena’s.I feel so uplifted to know you are praying and I can join in. This is such a special gift. God must be smiling on you and your family as u spread his word.
Thanks for the lovely Christmas Card. May you be blessed with a Happy New year.

  5. Happy and Blessed New year to both of you, so nice to see young people honoring the Novena tradition…Please pray for my son, who has gone way over his head financially and is in deep debt and his marriage has ended, pray that he will continue with his prayers (having just gone to confession after 20 so years) and that those he has hurt financially will recover. and that I can be strong in the adversity…
I pray for your continued peace and happiness .

  6. Dear John and Anne! Many thanks for your Christmas greetings and New Year wishes. Christmas is not passed because God chose to be with us through Jesus, He is always with us ‘Emmanuel” with pleasure I say happy Christmas and New Year to you both. Again, I would like to thank you dear brother and sister for helping my way in Novena prayers which are enlivening my faith more than ever. It would do me no good keeping these spiritual gains to myself but rather will be sharing with others as long as I live.

  9. Hello all, I just wanted to comfort all in need of the presence of God, Christmas is not about commemoration of Jesus birth, it’s more about worshiping the almighty for his presence among us! As Emmanuel means God is with us. However clean or unclean you re, he is with you! Merry Xmas to all and happy new year! Thank you very much to Jp and Annie for this wonderful space. Blessings . Dy
