The next novena we will pray is to a saint known as, “the little saint of great mercy.”

The next novena is: The Novena to St. Maria Goretti!

After you share the novena, be sure you read below for more about this incredible little saint :)

We will start praying on Tuesday, June 27th.

St. Maria Goretti is one of the youngest canonized saints in the Church. When she was canonized in 1950, more people attended her canonization Mass than any other at that point in time.

And when you learn more about her story, it’s not hard to understand why…

Maria died when she was only 11 years old after her neighbor attempted to rape her, and after her refusing, he brutally stabbed her numerous times.

She died the next day, but not before saying these last words:

“I forgive Alessandro Serenelli (her attacker)… and I want him with me in heaven forever.”

St. Maria is known as the Patroness of Purity. She’s also the patron of the youth and rape victims. It’s been said that her greatest virtue was giving forgiveness to her attacker even in the midst of suffering horrible physical pain. Therefore, she’s known for her intercession for mercy, forgiveness and love.

St. Maria Goretti is also known as a miracle & wonder-worker.

We hope you will join us in praying this novena!

    Saint Maria Goretti, the Lord has called you to make your life a hymn of glory, praise, blessing, thanksgiving, invocation to God, even martyrdom… You who cried out to Alexander: “God does not want”…
    invoke for me, for my family, for the Holy Church of God, for all humanity, the gift of:
    – adore God as Creator of the Universe and Father of all;
    – recognize Jesus as the Christ, the Messiah, the Savior of humanity;
    – receive the Holy Spirit as light, strength, love, wisdom, for my sanctification and that of others;
    – respect, help, love, serve every human being as a child of the same Father.
    (Request for pardon))
    In particular, Saint Maria Goretti, invoke for me this grace … which I so much desire,
    as long as it conforms to the holy will of God; bear fruit of love, of charity, of peace;
    free me from selfishness; make me a collaborator for the spread of the Kingdom of God in the world. Amen.
