The St. Monica NovenaEvery saint we ask for intercessory prayers is a persistent saint. They’re in Heaven with our Lord, and they desire for us all to be there too.

This next saint we’re calling on is especially known for being a persistent intercessor, and like St. John Vianney, she also desired for those closest to her to reach Heaven someday.

It’s St. Monica!

St. Monica prayed for her son’s conversion for more than 15 years. She wept and prayed constantly with faith and hope in God.

What was the result of all those years of prayer?

One of the great saints in the history of the Church: her son, St. Augustine!

That’s why Saint Monica is known for her intercession for those who have fallen away from the faith — for their conversions and reversions back to the Church!

We will start praying on Thursday, August 18th.

Along with her intercessory prayers for those who have fallen away from the faith, Saint Monica is also the patron saint of alcoholics, married women, mothers, wives, and difficult marriages.

We hope you will join us in praying this novena!

  1. Dearest St. Monica, I come to you again for the same prayers, my nephew promised to go to rehab next week. He’s starting to get liver damage yet he cannot stop drinking. He’s been to rehab about 4 times in the last year. I pray he finally goes to get cleaned up, if not, I cant’t keep enabling him. I want to encourage and support him but that doesn’t seem to help. Amen,

  2. Dear St. Monica, please give Louie the strength he needs to overcome his alcohol addiction since he will be getting it ofhe hospital tomorrow, he had detox and now is not wanting to go to rehab. Please lead him in the right direction so he is living a healthy life since he was now told he’s getting liver damage. Amen

  3. Dear St. Monica, I’m asking for prayers again for my nephew, I cringe when I see his phone number because he’s always drunk and obnoxious when he calls. I try to help him out but I think I’m just enabling him.
He doesn’t take care of himself and drinks all day and night. He needs an intervention and needs to get to confession and church. Please pray for him and my family. Amen.

  4. Dearest St. Monica, I’m praying again for my nephew, he was out of control today, please keep him safe and give him the strength to go back to church and get help for his alcohol addiction. I know getting back to church would help tremendously. amen.

  5. Dearest St. Monica, please give my relative the strength to clean up himself and his living quarters. I pray that he keeps himself clean of all alcohol and gets his head together. This is my urgent request that I’ve been praying for over the last year. Amen

  6. Dearest St. Monica, I pray again for my nephew, he called me at 8:30 this morning and was so drunk I couldn’t understand him. He wants me to come over to give him some of his money, I know he’ll use it for alcohol. I told him I couldn’t and he went into a rage. I haven’t been feeling well and his addiction makes me feel worse. I pray that he stays safe and tries to stop on his own which I know is hard. He’s been through detox numerous times and then starts drinking again, he needs rehab. I pray he for a miracle that he gets the help he needs before something bad happens. He’s already had problems in his apartment complex with neighbors complaining about him. If he gets kick out he will have no place to go. He also needs to start going back to church. Amen

  7. Dear St. Monica, thank you for interceding on behalf of my family so we can all share in giving thanks on Thanksgiving. I also pray for a peaceful gathering without conflict. I’m still praying for a miracle for my nephew and his addictions.

    Amen.

  8. Dear St. Monica, my nephew is struggling again with his alcohol addiction and refuses rehab. He was supposed to come out of physical therapy for a wound he received while heavily intoxicated about a month ago but the family is trying to get him to rehab before he gets out. I prayed for years for him to get help and start going back to church, now I’m just praying that he can live a good life on his own which I don’t see happening. Please intercede on his behalf and help him to get the help he needs. Also, please pray for all people suffering from any addiction. amen.

  9. I am so excited to start this novena to St Monica that I am already posting an answered prayer through her special intercession. 25 years ago, I met my husband in university. He was not Catholic then. I prayed for many years through the intercession of St Monica for his conversion and that we become Catholic parents to our children. My prayer was answered after 7 years. We eventually got married in the Catholic Church and are now parents of 2 wonderful kids. I am writing this testimony during our weekly blessed sacrament adoration commitment at the Catholic Church of St Monica, now our parish. I look at my husband beside me praying the rosary and remind myself of the goodness of God and that he answers all our prayers. Don’t ever feel hopeless. In His time, He makes all things beautiful.

  10. Dearest St Monica,

  13. I have a testimony for the St Anne and Joachim novena. I joined in the novena which started on the 16th of July last year, praying for a good man. Three days into the novena precisely on the 19th of July I met a guy. All to the glory of God, we wedded on the 23rd of July 2016. All glory to God through Mary our mother. Stop Anne is really the Saint of spinsters and bachelors.
