The next novena we will pray is to a saint known as, “the little saint of great mercy.”

The next novena is: The Novena to St. Maria Goretti!

We will start praying on Wednesday, June 27th.

St. Maria Goretti is one of the youngest canonized saints in the Church. When she was canonized in 1950, more people attended her canonization Mass than any other at that point in time.

And when you learn more about her story, it’s not hard to understand why…

Maria died when she was only 11 years old after her neighbor attempted to rape her, and after her refusing, he brutally stabbed her numerous times.

She died the next day, but not before saying these last words:

“I forgive Alessandro Serenelli (her attacker)… and I want him with me in heaven forever.”

St. Maria is known as the Patroness of Purity. She’s also the patron of the youth and rape victims. It’s been said that her greatest virtue was giving forgiveness to her attacker even in the midst of suffering horrible physical pain. Therefore, she’s known for her intercession for mercy, forgiveness and love.

St. Maria Goretti is also known as a miracle & wonder-worker.

We hope you will join us in praying this novena!

That’s also where you can learn more about St. Maria Goretti, her story, and how her forgiveness and mercy eventually led to the conversion of her attacker.

We’re looking forward to praying with you and for you!

God bless you!

  1. Oh St. Maria, please intercede in the heart of Victor B, that his impurity and aggression may, through your intercession, be transformed like that of your attacker Alessandro, into a devoted life of honesty and purity. May you miraculously bring his heart to Jesus, like you did for Alessandro through his dreams. May I offer up all my pain like you did for the forgiveness of his sin and that of the world. Miraculously intercede in the healing of my anger, hardened heart, and shame for being abused. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  2. I pray for my son who the Catholic school principal, our parish priest, snd the Diocese superintendent for turning him away from a Catholic education based on hearsay from another parent toward me. Bearing false witness is a sin, and my innocent child has been hurt by the very people he held up on a pedestal as being “more like Jesus”. His idea of these people is tarnished because they would not even speak to him but only turn their backs on us which I have been a parishioner for 34 years. May God forgive them for rejecting a lamb.

  3. Thank you so much for the beautiful remembrances of me as you visit Holy places. I know all who are connected to you both are blessed daily by your Holy work.

Many blessings to you and much love in Our Dear Lord and Blessed Mother.

  4. I am extremely grateful you for sharing this devotional means of prayer! I am able to share it with my Pastor and several women’s groups at our Parish. We truly believe that prayer is a most powerful means to pleading for God’s graces and mercy, and this makes it so easy!! Thank you thank you !! Any thoughts on a Novena starting for the Feast of The Transfiguration? I am starting a new ministry on Aug 6 . 7SistersApostalate for our Pastor. His Birthday just happens to be on that feast. Perhaps you’d like to check it out on line ? Blessings to all, KDM
