Pope Francis ElectedThe College of Cardinals has elected a new Pope!

Formerly Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Buenos Aires Argentina, our new Holy Father has taken the name Pope Francis!

He is a Jesuit – the first Jesuit to ever become Pope. He is also the first Pope from South America!

I have always felt close to St. Francis of Assisi. Please join me in praying the prayer of St. Francis for our new Pope!

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Amen.

We were praying the novena for the conclave, but now that the conclave is over and we have a new Holy Father, we will continue praying specifically for Pope Francis.

My daily prayer is for protection, peace, and courage as he leads us through his loving words and actions to follow the truths of Jesus Christ. God bless you abundantly, Pope Francis.

  10. Iam convinced that our pope will work to preserve the teachings of the churcch about respect for life.lets pray for him to be very courageous and not swerve.may he remain.disposed to the inspirations of the holy spirit.glory togod

  11. ………….. Thanks b to God for giving the church yet another Pontiff, May God grant that the Pope walks the footsteps of St. francis of Assisi and always guide the church righteously.

  13. Our Lord always gives us what we need when we need it… Pope Francis is a blessing from Heaven!!! May we follow, the Pope’s lead, pack our churches, praying in front of the Blessed Sacrament,asking Our Lord for whatever we need, to know Him more and more, spending as much time with Him as we can…Asking Our Blessed Mother to guide us and the Holy Spirit to inspire us… This Easter let us take advantage of the holiness of the season, and ask on Divine Mercy Sunday Our Lord for Graces for Pope Francis, as well as our families… God bless, Peter Lepre, Envoy for Mercy

    Peace and blessings!

  15. May God protect our Holy Father, Pope Francis, as he begins the task of “rebuilding” the Church as Francis of Assisi did.
    I pledge my daily prayers and support for our Holy Father.
    May he continue in his ways of humility and love for the poor.

  16. I pray for our new Pope Francis I, that he may have the strength and courage to fight for his children so that we may all glorify God as He so deserves. I pray that our new Pope in all things For the Greater Glory of God (Ad majorem Dei gloriam!).

    I pray for all our priests, bishops, deacons, and the faithful that many souls may be saved & live in the Truth of the Gospel and Tradition.

  17. I am overwhelmed with Pope Francis’ humility – he has, through the power of the Holy Spirit breathed a renewed sense in all of our apostolic pursuits.

    May our Lord be with you Pope Francis on your journey as our new Earthly Shepard.

  18. I am encouraged by what I’ve heard of our new pope, that he is a devout, loving and tender, yet strong and wise man. I am concerned by how the mass media attempts to portray the Catholic Church, esp. here in the US, as being divided, conflicted over many issues, and not living in accordance with Church teachings (and instead wanting them changed). I do not believe this reflects the majority of our Church in America, but rather a small minority. I pray that Pope Francis can bring more peace to the Church and its people, and have a great positive impact on the world.

  19. It feels like the Holy Spirit was really working during the conclave and with the election of Pope Francis. He seems like the perfect pope to lead us through the trials and temptations of today’s world. Deo Gratias!

  20. How awesome! Pope Francis!

    Thoroughly impressed with out new Pope’s humility and personality so far.

    Our Cardinals did a great job choosing a Pope, and I think Pope Francis is just what our church needs at this time in history.

    Viva El Papa!

  21. I pray daily that our Pope will be moved to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the way she requested it be done, for I believe that world peace is at hand if the Blessed Mother is obeyed. What a pity if the proper action is not taken.

    Tony

  36. I pray that Pope Francis will be the strong leader the Catholic Church needs at this time in world history; that he will stand firm for truth, love and life in the face of a culture of death and that he will inspire Catholics everywhere to do the same.

    I pray that the Father keeps his mighty hand upon our Pope always; that the Son walks beside him every day and that the Spirit fills him daily with all the attributes necessary to fulfill his mission.

    Holy Mother of God, pray for us.

  49. Lord Jesus, we thank you and praise you for working thru the Holy Spirit to give us our 265th pope, Pope Francis. May our Blessed Virgin Mary intercede for us. We pray he will help the catholics of the world to turn into their faith; that he will challenge us to have Christ be the center of our lives in all that we do in our daily lives. Please dear Pope Francis be a strong advocate for life, especially for those who have no voice, the babies killed by abortion. Stand up to those living in Europe and the United States that the Catholic Church will not tolerate gay marriage or contraceptives. I will pray daily for you and our priest and Emeritus Benedict. God bless you and give you all the strength and courage to bring light to this world of darkness.

  50. Dear Pope Francis,
    I was so happy when I heard the news on the radio while driving: “Habemos Papan!” I was even more happy when I found out that you chose the name Francis. Let me tell you why. I was always told that I could never have children. Awhile ago I had promised Padre Pio (his baptismal name is Francesco)that if he interceded for me to conceive that I would somehow name the baby after him. After visiting his shrine this past December, I became pregnant IMMEDIATELY after. If our baby is a boy, middle name will be Francesco, a girl, the middle name Francesca. I couldn’t believe that we would also be naming the baby after you. :.) I was also happy when I found out that your inauguration Mass was today (St. Joseph’s Feast Day)! St. Joseph has been another intercessor for us over the years, and if we have a boy, his first name will most likely be Joseph!

    • Congratulations and Blessings to you Kathryn! And may God Bless your little Francesco or Francesca!!

      With much Love & Aloha,

      Lita

      • Thank you, Lita! Please keep us in your prayers, and I will try to remember you in my prayers, my spiritual Catholic friend in Hawaii!

        A Blessed Lent and Easter Season!
        Kathryn and baby. :.)
        PS I’d LOVE to see Hawaii some day!
