About St. Thomas
St. Thomas, also known as “Doubting Thomas,” was one of the twelve apostles chosen by Jesus Christ. He was initially skeptical of Jesus' Resurrection, and he famously said he would not believe in the Resurrection unless he saw and touched the wounds of Jesus. However, upon encountering the Risen Jesus and touching His wounds, Thomas' doubt transformed into profound faith, leading him to proclaim, "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:28). He became a fervent evangelist, spreading the Gospel and establishing Christian communities, particularly in India. He was martyred for his faith. St. Thomas continues to inspire the faithful to confront doubts with honesty and to seek deeper faith in Christ.
St. Thomas is the patron saint of India, architects, builders, and construction workers.
