Pregnancy comes with a whole host of joys and fears, one of them being concern over the health of the baby and the mother. In this novena, we entrust the care of the mother and child into God’s hands.

About Novena for a Safe Pregnancy and Delivery

St. Gerard Majella is the patron saint of expectant mothers. This is because before he died, he dropped his handkerchief and a young girl tried to return it. He told her to keep it saying that she “may need it someday.” Years after Gerard had died, the girl, who had married and became pregnant, was about to lose her baby. However, she remembered the handkerchief and asked that it be brought to her. The pain went away and she had a healthy baby.

In this novena, we will pray for St. Gerard’s intercession, but the prayers will mostly focus on how God accompanied Mary through her pregnancy and Jesus’s birth. It is a reminder that God is there to accompany you or those you love through pregnancy and childbirth as well.
