Losing a job, having a job that is unfulfilling, or seeing a loved one lose a job can be stressful. You can pray this novena to help you or a loved one find a new job.
The Church teaches that there is dignity in work. Your work can allow you to use your talents and time to serve others. Working also provides the means with which you can support your family and be generous to the Church.
You can also make our work a prayer by offering it to God.
It is a blessing if your job is fulfilling and enjoyable. But it is not uncommon for people to find themselves in an unjust or unhealthy work environment, or to face stress and uncertainty over a lost job or underemployment.
In these times we encourage you to cling to the Lord and trust that His ways are higher than our ways, and that He will carry you through employment difficulties.

Why Pray this Novena?
Pray this novena if you recently lost your job, or have been looking for a new job. You can also pray this novena for a family member who is trying to find employment. Pray this novena if your employment future is uncertain, or if you are in a job you don’t like and want to find a new one. You can even pray this novena if you are trying to discern the next step in your career.

Novena to Find a Job - Day 1
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Dear God, You declare, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Is. 55:8). You know what is best for me, and will provide for me even in uncertainty and instability.
Because of my need for a new job, there is so much uncertainty in my life. Please give me the peace of Christ in the face of financial difficulty and uncertainty over the future. Help me to trust that You will give me the grace to endure this challenging time of life and for the courage to surrender myself to Your holy will.

Dear God, You declare, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Is. 55:8). You know what is best for me, and will provide for me even in uncertainty and instability.
Peace comes from focusing on what I can control and surrendering what I don’t have control over to You, Lord. Help me to have patience in times of waiting and uncertainty. Help me to do what I can to find a new job or help my loved one find a new job, and ultimately entrust the outcome entirely to You.

Dear God, You declare, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Is. 55:8). You know what is best for me, and will provide for me even in uncertainty and instability.
Help me to bear rejection with perseverance and fortitude, and with a constant hope in You. When I feel discouraged or distraught, remind me that You, too, know what it is to feel rejection and distress. Move my heart to turn that burden and hurt over to You. Help me to find my worth and dignity in my identity as a child of God, not in my career title or profession.

The saints learned to love, praise, and honor You even in dire circumstances. Help me to love You even in scary and upsetting uncertainties like being unemployed or needing a new job. Help there be peace in my home and family even though we may be experiencing great suffering.

Help me to love my family members selflessly, especially during times of stress and instability. When we feel impatient, move our hearts to pray with and for each other. Help my family to have great trust for God and devotion to the Most Blessed Mother as St. Cajetan did.

Help those who find themselves in unjust, unsafe, or unfair working conditions. If it be Your will, lead me to a new job that is a healthy, enjoyable, and fulfiling environment where I can best use my talents to serve. Help me to treat those in my family, at work, and those I encounter throughout my day with a Christ-like love.

Help me to accept your will obediently, whether that means staying in a job I don’t like, or beginning to search for a new one. When I am faced with frustrations or crosses, give me the grace to carry them with loving acceptance as You did. Help me to know your will in all things and have the courage to pursue it.

Help me to bring all of my worries, frustrations, fears, and uncertainties to prayer, that I may find comfort in surrendering my entire life to you during this time of searching for a new job. When I am tempted to skip praying, move my heart to have a desire for the things of God. Help me to make prayer my constant during this season of uncertainty.
