While it’s still the Year of Mercy, we thought this next novena might be very appropriate: a novena to, “the little saint of great mercy.”
The next novena we will pray is The Novena to St. Maria Goretti!
We will start praying on Monday, June 27th.
This will be a first for us as we’ve never prayed this novena before, but we have received so many requests for it over the years that we felt called to pray it during this Year of Mercy.
St. Maria Goretti is the youngest canonized saint in the Church. When she was canonized in 1950, more people attended her canonization Mass than any other at that point in time.
And when you learn more about her story, it’s not hard to understand why…
Maria died when she was only 11 years old after her neighbor attempted to rape her, and after her refusing, he brutally stabbed her numerous times.
She died the next day, but not before saying these last words:
“I forgive Alessandro Serenelli (her attacker)… and I want him with me in heaven forever.”
St. Maria is known as the Patroness of Purity. She’s also the patron of the youth and rape victims. It’s been said that her greatest virtue was giving forgiveness to her attacker even in the midst of suffering horrible physical pain. Therefore, she’s known for her intercession for mercy, forgiveness and love.
St. Maria Goretti is also known as a miracle & wonder-worker.

– a better paying job, with benefits
– the durawall issue to be solved without any demolitions
– for my children, so that the evil spirits & cases from their father’s family side will not affect them
– total healing for my parents & my sister-in-law’s parents
– for a reasonable neurosurgeon who will operate on my mom
i pray for finanacial deliverance, i pray for a better job with a better pay, i pray for the gift of holy matrimony with my boyfriend and i pray that my mum hearts desires may be fullfilled
Please pray that my family remain healthy, happy and prosperous. Pray that my daughter is healed from her lingering illness and that my other daughter has a healthy pregnancy and baby. Praying that my husband and I can increase our income so that we may pay off all debts. Prayers that we prosper in our careers. Thank you for so many blessings and answered prayers.
I pray for mum’s healing, that her memory loss will fade away, that she will recover from her general weakness and perpetual aches. That our faith will not diminish during these difficult moments of her illness. i pray for my brother’s complete recovery from drug abuse. I pray for guidance to ensure my kids’ spiritual and moral growth, especially for my first son whose birthday it is today. And I pray for purity of heart and thoughts.
I asking please to pray for my son Derek. So he seeks help On his own for his alcohol, drugs and depression. My heart aches for his situation and also please pray for me so I can be patient and to trust God to help him. Thank you all and God bless us all.

Rachel that she may be in remission so she can have her transplant operation.
Mary that she may be healed of breast cancer & not harmed by her chemo and radiation treatments.
Lorraine that she may have a successful operation removing her tumor and that it may not be cancerous. Also that the source of the fluid be found & cured.
Steve that his medical concerns be healed.
I pray for all 3 of my children That they may forgive their abusive alochic father. Pray expecially For JPC That he may overcome his addiction to drugs and alcohol And truly find God, And return to the true Holy Catholic Church. I pray for AAC For success in college and finish Her Nursing degree. For MBC to believe in God whole heartly To forgive his brother for his wrong. For them to find true Catholic Christian spouses. And specially for my new wonder husband for his health, Wisdom in guiding our family to JESUS.
Please help my adult children to return to the Catholic church, and that my grandchildren are baptized and raised in our faith.

Saint Maria Goretti I pray for forgiveness of my sins. To unblock all that continue to prevent my developmental plans and financial success. Help my children who are not well employment to get employment especially in international organizations and those employed to be promoted to higher positions.
Ever so pure St. Maria Goretti I pray that I may be as pure as you and life up my life to our Lord.
Please watch over my family and friends especially those who need God’s healing over them.
Also, help me to discern God’s vocation for me and for me to take that next step moving forward.

Please pray for my attitude towards a son in law that has bankrupted my daughter financially, physically , emotionally and spiritually . I’m finding it hard to forgive and accept. And for the health of my daughter who is overwhelmed with her new job and is fighting depression. She has 3 special needs kids who need and deserve the best from them. Maria Goretti please intercede for me that God forgives me and see me through financial break through to be able to play professional football in Sweden and other parts of Europe. Give my mother break financial break thru to be able to pay for my ticket, accommodation and part of Managers fee for training services. Dear God, thank you for the gift of life. In this Novena I would like to pray for sinners all over the world especially the sin of abortion. I also pray for the youth that you may cover them with your blood against drugs and other negative habits, I pray pray for the youth that they may value their purity, and the rape victims that you ,may grant them healing.

Praying for my colleague, who is not taking to me currently to find it in her heart to forgive me for whatever wrong I have done to her. I pray that I may take time to get angry, be more tolerante and patient with people and most importantly to be able to forgive everyone that has wronged me. Next weekend I will be meeting someone very close to my heart and I pray for God’s guidance and wisdom. I pray that our meeting will be a fruitful one and there will be direction where we should be taking our lives to. I pray this through the intercession of St Maria Goretti.
Please pray for the conversion of my husband. I pray that his thoughts of hate will go away. Pray that he can forgive and love rather than hate. I also ask for strength for myself so that I may continue to help in his conversion. I ask that you pray for me Maria Goretti; so that I can continue to be strong; as you were. I want so be as you were. Loving and forgiving of all those who have no faith. I want them to know of the powerful love of our Lord, Jesus Christ; because his love can move mountains.
We need to remember that his love and mercy as a loving father is so great.

Today my husband was driving my son to school. While I was on the phone with my son he asked to speak with me. For the first time in two years he asked to speak with me while I was on the phone with my son. Thank you Lord for bringing us together. Thank you I cannot believe it thank you! I pray that the next conversation would be more about us. I am away at work now for two months and due to go back next month. I pray that when I’m done with this contract I’d be under one roof with my family. Thank you!
Praying for the intentions of those praying this novena that they be granted. Praying for my daughter’s healing of her cancer. Praying for my son to get marry who is a God fearing, family oriented and a good catholic person. Praying for my husband get serious in controlling his diabetes. Praying for a miracle in healing illnesses in my family.
I am praying for the conversion of my daughter, for my son to understand his anger and control it better, for another son to make progress in his life, for my brother and sisters to return to the Church, for our country, for the conversion of the Democratic Party to prolife and profamily positions, and for the grace to find another house to live in or to renovate the house my family presently lives in.
May St. Maria Goretti intercede for all of us who are praying this. I pray for my daughter that she will be good for everything and to be close more to our almighty Father please bless her with love. I hope that I get the job next month that I applied few months ago to be able to help my people and donate to our churchs around the wold. Amen

I pray for healing and forgiveness with my co-worker- friend Melissa. She has mental/ emotional issues that make it difficult to work through problems. I pray for healing in her mind and spirit and in our working relationship/ friendship. Particularly the recent disagreement we had where we wounded each other with hurtful words.
